POSITION SUMMARY: Volunteering demonstrates caring for others and offers the opportunity to improve the lives of children and families, thereby creating a caring community. By volunteering your time with the YMCA to benefit others, you have the opportunity to build new relationships, learn, and grow while helping your community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Duties will vary by department based on program and operational need as well as volunteer interest and skill set. Examples may include but are not limited to: 1. Support the planning or implementation of community events. 2. Set up and/or break down of equipment, furniture, decorations, activity supplies, etc. 3. Support facilitation of activities or stations during community events. 4. Support membership services with greeting, check-in, or related functions. 5. Support business administration department with mailing, data entry, filing, or related functions. 6. Support the maintenance department with custodial work, cleaning, organizing, or related functions. 7. Support staff in our Kids Zone babysitting services with activities, reading stories and other related duties. JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. Completion of necessary application, background check and training 2. A positive attitude, enthusiasm, and commitment 3. Fulfillment of time and task commitment 4. Business casual attire or YMCA volunteer uniform if provided 5. Good communication skills 6. Agrees to follow all YMCA policies and procedures, as required 7. Exemplify the YMCA core values of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT & RESPONSIBILITY 8. Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct 9. Age 16+. Under 16 with parental presence and support.
