POSITION SUMMARY Volunteering at the YMCA is a meaningful way to show care for others and contribute to the well-being of children, families, and the broader community. By offering your time and talents, you’ll help foster a supportive environment while gaining opportunities to build relationships, learn new skills, and grow personally. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Volunteer responsibilities vary by department and are based on program needs, operational priorities, and individual interests and skill sets. Examples of potential duties include: 1. Assisting with the planning and execution of community events. 2. Setting up and breaking down equipment, furniture, decorations, and activity materials. 3. Supporting activity stations or facilitating engagement during events. 4. Welcome members, assisting with check-in, and providing general support at the front desk. 5. Helping with administrative tasks such as mailing, data entry, and filing. 6. Assisting with custodial tasks, cleaning, and organizing in support of the maintenance team. 7. Engaging with children in the Kids Zone through storytelling, play, and other activities. REQUIREMENTS 1. Completion of the volunteer application, background check, and required training. 2. A positive attitude, enthusiasm, and dedication to service. 3. Reliability in fulfilling assigned time and task commitments. 4. Business casual attire or YMCA-provided volunteer uniform. 5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 6. Adherence to all YMCA policies and procedures. 7. Commitment to the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. 8. Creating a safe and nurturing environment by reporting any suspicious activity or conduct violations. 9. Volunteers must be age 16 or older; those under 16 may participate with parental supervision and support.
