The Wilson-Gray YMCA is seeking passionate and creative volunteers to lead a weekly sewing class for teens. This is a great opportunity to share your skills, mentor young people, and support hands-on learning in a welcoming community environment. Position: Volunteer Sewing Class Instructor (Teens) Location: Hartford Schedule: Wednesdays, 3:00–5:00 PM Commitment: Ongoing through September 2026 What You’ll Do: Lead engaging, beginner-to-intermediate sewing classes for teens Teach basic to advancing sewing techniques and safe equipment use Help students complete small projects and build creative confidence Create a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere Support Provided: On-site supervision throughout each class Program assistance from branch staff or volunteers Access to classroom space and equipment (details provided during onboarding) Ideal Volunteers: Have sewing experience and enjoy working with teens Are patient, reliable, and encouraging Can commit to a consistent weekly schedule Teaching or mentoring experience is helpful but not required This is a meaningful way to give back, inspire creativity, and help teens develop practical skills they can use for years to come.
